Pretty in Purple

I always SAY I’m going to play around with all of my purple shadows but sometimes I find that I’m not getting the right SHADE of purple for my skin tone. Purple is not really a tricky color but using it correctly does take a little practice.

To get my “Pretty in Purple” look, I chose several shades and mixed them together for my own custom color(s). On my lids, I used a pretty purple pigment (try saying that ten times) from Magnolia Makeup in “Whimsical.” This pigment contains a mixture of gold and violet and I just ADORE the shade. I decided to extend and blend the color a bit further into the crease, then added a mixture of “Fleur de Fab” by Magnolia (a rich indigo/copper) with Urban Decay’s “Last Call,” a shimmering plum, to create my own custom purple color. I used MAC cosmetics “Amber Lights” and Urban Decay “Chopper” on my brow bone to highlight that area.  I filled in my brows with “Strut” eyebrow pencil by MAC and fluffed up my lashes with L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes in Black.

Purple and Gold Makeup

Mixing various shades allowed me to get the right purple for me!

For my cheeks: MAC in “Fever” and CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in “Ebony Bronze” on my cheekbones. I finished off my face with MAC Studio Careblend Powder in Dark and Dark Deep, and my lips were lined with MAC “Vino” lip pencil,  (a favorite of mine), and filled in with “Hoochie” Lip Tar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and “All of My Purple Life” lipgloss from MAC (created by Afrobella.com founder Patrice Grell Yursik). Tell me what you think!

Black Dahlia by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

I’m back! I’ve been away and it’s been quite difficult to blog due to my relocation from San Antonio back home to The Windy City! I actually ordered one of OCC’s newest colors, Black Dahlia, before I made the trip back home but I’m finally able to talk about what I’ve discovered.

The color is a deepened, blackened red and I absolutely LOVE both the Lip Tar and the Nail Lacquer. Honestly, I thought both products would be even darker in tone but I was pleasantly surprised to discover something different. Black Dahlia is totally wearable for many skin tones! Check out the pics!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics at Sephora

Limited Edition Color

I’ve blogged about OCC a MILLION times (okay not really a million but you get my drift) and now the highly coveted, highly pigmented lip tar is finally available at Sephora stores and online! Hurry and get your lip tar so you can finally understand WHY you need a little OCC in your life.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar at Sephora!

I’ve been talking about OCC for a while now and if you’ve been following my blog then you KNOW how much I LOVE Lip Tar! A little goes a LONG way and I am all about getting my money’s worth because I am a true beauty budget babe! Aside from OCC creating a vegan product that contains oils like Vitamin E and Peppermint, the Lip Tar is highly pigmented and dries to a beautiful matte so you wear it as it is or add gloss. Sephora is selling some of the most popular colors starting tomorrow: Anime, Grandma, and NSFW.

Check out the list of Sephora stores near you and grab those Lip Tars while you can! Hopefully, this will be a life long partnership between the wildly popular Sephora and the makeup line that is quickly becoming the darling of the industry!

OCC and NARS

Lip Tar + Larger Than Life Gloss= Happy Lips!

I really like to play around with different brands so I mixed some Lip Tar in Pennyroyal by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (described as a “Warm Taupe Neutral”) with my NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Gold Digger, a really pretty peach that has just the right touch of shimmer to make my smile sparkle!  Lip Tar is one of the most amazing products I’ve ever used for my lips. Because of the all natural ingredients, including peppermint oil, my lips feel really smooth after each use. As I’ve said before in previous blogs, a little goes a long way, when using OCC’s Lip Tar. The product dries to a matte finish and can be worn alone or with liner and gloss. NARS Larger Than Life Gloss is very lightweight and the texture is not sticky or sloppy. On top of ingredients that nourish your lips, this high shine gloss also helps plump up your pout!

Combining makeup brands gives me much more versatility with products and makeup styles and besides, it’s so much more fun to mix and match!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is Coming to Sephora!

Today I read that OCC, one of my FAVORITE cosmetic lines will launch their products at Sephora stores! This is a huge deal and a great marketing move for OCC, the makers of fantastic products like Lip Tar and Loose Colour Concentrates.  If you haven’t tried out the products (vegan and cruelty-free), then you are missing out on not only quality cosmetics, but also ones that help keep your skin healthy.  I’ve blogged many times before about not only the eye and lip palettes, but also the fantastically shiny and long wearing nail polishes too. Sephora + OCC=Fabulous!  Enjoy shopping!

I’m Obsessed with OCC.

A couple of months ago, I attended The Makeup Show and immediately headed toward the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics counter to play around with their highly pigmented and very colorful cosmetics. I fell in love with the Lip Tar, made of  Hemp and Peppermint Oil, as well as Vitamin E, which made my lips feel supple and moist immediately! OCC’s Lip Tar and all of their other products are 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, which means they aren’t filled with chemicals that are ultimately bad for your skin and the environment (go green)!  Lip Tar is meant to be worn either alone or mixed with other colors and because of the high levels of pigment, you MUST apply with a lip brush and only use a tiny dab at time to avoid looking like a clown (unless that IS the look you desire). A little truly goes a long way, which is great for your pockets too! At $13 dollars a tube, Lip Tar will last a long time if used correctly!

If you remember from a previous blog, I actually took photos of myself wearing “Hoochie” by OCC and since then, several people have contacted me about purchasing that color.  I just placed an order for a few more items including more Lip Tar in “Strumpet”  (shown at the top of this page and I can’t stop laughing at the color’s name) and professional Nail Lacquer in “Tarred”, a seriously, super-rich, black, satin polish that I can’t wait to arrive (mani/pedi time)!
