I love to change-up my hair color but sometimes, I forget to take care of my EYE brow color. It’s worth the time and effort to lighten your brows if you lighten you hair, in order to avoid a harsh contrast between the two.
The easiest route to lighter brows could be in the form of a good pencil or shadow, but if your brows are very dark, you will need to bleach them a bit. I like Jolen Bleaching Cream because it’s easy to use and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. Traditionally, Bleaching Cream is used to lighten unwanted facial hair (the dreaded mustache on a woman), but Makeup Artists all over have used cream to lighten the eyebrows (it’s one of our many tricks).
Follow the instructions but keep the product on for no more than 10 minutes, or you run the risk of over-bleaching the brows. Follow up with an accompanying eye brow pencil. My favorites are by M.A.C. in colors like Strut and Lingering.
Everyone makes a beauty blunder here and there but there is one blunder that truly takes the cake: the hairy face! Ladies, it is not cute for your face to be covered in hair. No one cares if the hair is fine/blond/etc., because a mustache, beard, and Elvis sideburns are usually pretty noticeable. Razors are a no-no (I don’t even have to tell you how BAD it is to use a RAZOR blade on your face), and although a depilatory can get the job done by removing hairs at the skin’s surface, hair still grows back rather quickly. Waxing removes hair at the roots. Get those pesky hairs under control by either visiting a salon that specializes in waxing, or you can purchase a do-it-yourself kit from your favorite mass merchandise retailer (i.e. Target, Wal-Mart, etc.).
Nad’s Facial Wax Strips are gentle on the skin (hypoallergenic for those who have sensitive skin), contain natural beeswax, and are easy to use. I have tried Nad’s before and appreciated the gel consistency of the wax, and the soothing wipes provided to treat skin before and after removing the unwanted hair. Nail care guru Sally Hansen now makes Facial Wax Strip Kits, and the company was savvy enough to include different sized strips for different facial needs (i.e. lip strips are small, while strips for large areas of the face are much larger).
I’ve heard women say that waxing hurts, and although pulling hairs off of your face is no walk in the park, the alternative (looking like Chewbacca) is ten times worse!
