I have been away for too long and received a gentle reminder that it is time for me to get back into the swing of things. I’m an artist. I don’t draw or sculpt, and for some, that’s what comes to mind when they hear “artist”. I do makeup. I do it well. I get paid to do it, so that makes me an artist. But I deviated from the path of artistry, because I had become disillusioned and uninspired. As a result, I took a few steps back and returned to a career that I now loathe.
As we zoom through the 2nd month of 2017, I realize that I must pick myself up, dust off my brushes, and get back to work. There are faces to paint, sets to visit, and movies to be made, and they can’t be made without me. I am publicly vowing to put myself out there more, to work more, to learn more, and to grow more as a makeup artist. It is time to renew.
Until next time,
