Protect Yo’self

No, this isn’t a post about safe sex, although I’d hope that in today’s times, people ARE practicing safe sex. This post is about protecting your SKIN, especially your face. I am a Black woman, dark-skinned, so I might not be first in line for skin cancer, but even though “melanin gives you super powers”, (shout out to FBFC for creating t-shirts with that slogan), sunscreen is a MUST!

Right now, I have some Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen Stick-SPF 70 in my purse. I use it every day.  I reapply it every two hours. I want to be healthy. You should be doing this too. Protect yourself by protecting your skin. Even if you don’t plan to be outdoors for long, protect your skin. Use a sunscreen of your choice, and honestly, I don’t care which brand you use, but use something.   Cancer doesn’t discriminate.

Until next time,

Tiffany

I Beat The Heat!

Today was the first summer day that I ventured outdoors wearing a full face of makeup. I always wear a sunscreen and lip balm, but today was one of those days where (due to work) I had to give myself “face.”  The temperature this morning was a scorching 91 degrees, and  I felt like I was trapped in an oven. Summer Heat Makeup

The Makeup Goddesses had already whispered in my ear that an attempt to waterproof my face was the way to go. After applying my Olay moisturizer, I added Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer and followed up with my L’Oreal RevitaLift Miracle Blur. Doing all three of these things helped set my face and get it ready for the next phase. I used MAKE UP FOR EVER Face and Body Liquid Makeup (which is waterproof), as well as the line’s Eye Primer, which allowed my eye shadow to last without creasing. After adding the rest of my makeup, I hit the streets to see if I could beat the heat. I did sweat a tad bit, but even after dabbing my face with a soft tissue, I was able to keep my makeup intact (the picture above was taken after being in the heat for a few hours).

By using a combination of techniques, and with trial and error, we can always find a way to keep our makeup looking good in the summer heat. Of course, we could always skip the makeup and go natural, but that’s not nearly as much fun for those of us who adore cosmetics! Do you have any suggestions on how to keep your makeup looking great during these hot summer months? I’d love to compile a list of suggestions and post them!

XOXO,

Tiffany

L’Oreal RevitaLift Miracle Blur is Magic. That’s All.

*Note: The photos show me before applying the product, and after my cleansing and prepping regime.

As much as I want to believe advertisers when they make claims about their fantastic products, I am usually skeptical. I’ve spent countless amounts of money over the years trying out mascaras that claim to give me tarantula-length lashes, glosses that claim to give me Angelina Jolie lips, and face creams that miraculously erase 20 years off my face! A while back, Allure sent me a full-sized tube of L’Oreal RevitaLift Miracle Blur to review, which supposedly has the ability to instantly make your skin smoother and virtually “blur” lines on your face. My immediate reaction was, “Yeah, right.”  In fact, it took me a while to really use the product beyond the recommended time for the review.

I’m so happy L’Oreal proved me wrong. I cannot live without RevitaLift! Okay, I could live

without Miracle Blur but that would make me very sad. After reading the instructions, I cleaned, added moisturizer, and primed my face. I applied the silky, thick (but not oily) cream to my face and was instantly a convert. My face was extremely smooth, and those pesky little lines on my forehead looked as if they’d been erased. I had to readjust my eyeglasses and do a double take! Not only did my skin appear flawless, but I really loved that RevitaLift contained sunscreen (and should be used as such). I’ve tried the product with and without foundation and I do think that if you decide to use it as the final step before foundation, you make sure that you’re sufficiently moisturized and primed first. Those extra steps help RevitaLift to really do what it claims to do.

Protecting my skin is just as important as making it look good, and that should always be your priority too. I’ve sufficiently squeezed out each precious drop, and so it’s time for a replacement. You can purchase L’Oreal RevitaLift Miracle Blur at mass merchandise stores like CVS, Target, and Walgreens.
